DIY Guide: How to Clean Your Interior Windows Quick and Easy

We get a lot of requests for interior window cleaning these days. With how much we have all been home it makes sense that the insides need some TLC.

At the moment we are only doing exterior window cleaning jobs because of COVID-19, but we wanted to give you some spring cleaning tips to make the indoors look a little brighter.

We know that after you get our Championship Window Cleaning on the exterior of your home it’s going to look even better if the insides are clean. So we want to help you get to those squeaky-clean interior windows.

Interior Windows:

  1. Use 50% cleaning or distilled vinegar and 50% water in a spray bottle as window cleaner.

  2. Use a microfiber cloth, an old t-shirt, anything soft and non-marking.

  3. Spray your vinegar / water solution starting on the top half of the window.

  4. With a steady, circular motion, clean the window with your cloth from top to bottom, making sure to get into all the corners.

  5. With your finger and the cloth trace the border of the window pane to remove drips.

  6. Work on one window at a time. There can be a temptation to spray them all and then clean them all, but there will be fewer streaks ( from the window solution drying) if you take them one at a time.

Pro tips:

If there are streaks that remain you can rinse and clean the window with plain water and repeat the process.

Make sure you have enough dry area on your towel to soak up all the moisture from the window pane.

Avoid using a dirty towel/cloth, switch out what you are using if it gets too damp.

Clean the frames and the tracks. It makes the clean pane look even snazzier. Use your towel and your finger to wipe out any stains or dirt.

You can also use a small squeegee to pull water off the window, wipe or tap your squeegee to keep the blade clean between pulls.

Remove your screen and give it a vertical and horizontal clean with a dust pan brush. Carefully wipe the frames with your towel. (We clean the screens with our exterior package so you can skip this step if you’re a regular customer)
